The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Part of the Very Sexy Fine Fragrance Collection launched in 2008, this fragrance arrived in a distinctive format, magnetically attached bottles, his and hers, designed to be displayed together. The men's version came in a white bottle, its counterpart in a darker shade. Both were positioned as limited editions within the Victoria's Secret range, meant to capture something direct and intentional. The composition, tangerine green leaves, vetiver, cinnamon, was built around contrast: the sharp and the grounded, the green and the warm.
Cinnamon dominates the composition, but it's not the soft cinnamon of dessert accords. This is the dry, almost bark-like spice of the actual material, warm without sweetness, assertive without aggression. Vetiver provides the counterweight: its smoky, earthy character grounds the cinnamon's heat and keeps the fragrance from becoming one-dimensional. Petitgrain, the leaf and twig of the bitter orange tree, adds a green, slightly bitter dimension that bridges the opening and the base, giving the fragrance a botanical quality that prevents it from reading as purely warm and heavy.
The evolution
The opening hits immediately with a bright, green citrus note from the tangerine leaves, clean and slightly bitter, like biting into the peel. Within minutes, the cinnamon arrives and takes over, warming the composition from the inside out. The petitgrain emerges as the green, slightly woody bridge between the opening and the heart, lasting through the first couple of hours. By hour three, the vetiver settles in as the dominant force, dry, earthy, almost smoky, carrying the fragrance through to its conclusion. On fabric, the cinnamon lingers longest. On skin, the vetiver drydown stays close, intimate, for a full workday.
Cultural impact
The Very Sexy Attraction duo arrived as a limited-edition set in 2008, packaged with magnetically connecting bottles that made the gender pairing literal. It fit within a Victoria's Secret fragrance strategy built around accessibility and bold positioning, scents designed to be worn, not analyzed. While it didn't achieve the longevity of core line favorites, it found an audience among those looking for something direct and spice-forward at a mainstream price point.
