The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
First Snow was inspired by that singular moment when the first flakes fall and the world goes quiet. Perfumer Ane Ayo wanted to capture something that felt simultaneously fragile and certain, the quiet before, the promise of what comes next. Victorinox, the Swiss brand best known for the pocket knife carried by soldiers and travelers for over a century, turned its attention to winter's hush. The stillness. First Snow translates that pause into scent. The fragrance opens with that crisp, almost crystalline quality, like frost on a windowpane, and settles into something softer, warmer, a whisper of comfort that lingers in memory long after the last flake has fallen.
What makes First Snow interesting is its structure. Eucalyptus and white tea at the top, cool, camphorated, almost clinical, give way to a heart of vanilla and orange blossom absolute that rewrites the entire fragrance. The contrast is the point. It's not a linear scent that stays on its opening. It pivots. That cool-fresh to warm-creamy arc gives the fragrance its unexpected character, the way a winter morning can suddenly feel like an embrace. It's also vegan and natural-origin, which the brand has emphasized.
The evolution
It opens sharp. Eucalyptus hits first, medicinal and clean, like stepping into a cold pharmacy. The white tea is there too, subtle, slightly astringent, it softens the eucalyptus rather than competing with it. Then the hand-off. The eucalyptus retreats and the vanilla arrives, blended with orange blossom absolute into something rich and warm. It doesn't sneak in. It announces itself, and suddenly the whole fragrance feels different. Warmer. Softer. The drydown is white musk and tonka bean, powdery, creamy, close to the skin. On fabric especially, the tonka bean holds on and on.
Cultural impact
First Snow offers something distinct in the market. It's an affordable, vegan fragrance from a heritage brand better known for pocket knives than perfume. The fresh-creamy profile appeals broadly, and the eucalyptus-vanilla contrast gives it enough character to stand out from conventional comfort scents. It's the kind of fragrance that works across seasons and occasions without asking much of the wearer. Community ratings are consistently positive, with particular praise for value and everyday wearability.
