The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Azione arrived in 2011 from Tonino Lamborghini, and the name says what the bottle doesn't have to. Azione means action, and the brand's whole language runs on motion, precision, and the kind of quiet force that precedes movement. Béatrice Piquet and Anne Flipo composed it as an aromatic fougère, working together to build a scent that captures a suspended stillness, when potential energy sits coiled and waiting to resolve into something kinetic. The composition reads as stillness caught mid-breath, that charged quiet before anything moves. Piquet and Flipo translated that tension into scent using petitgrain and artemisia for the clarity, cypress and blueberry for the mental sharpening, and a base of patchouli and amber for weight.
What makes Azione structurally interesting is the blueberry at the heart. It's a fruit note in a genre most people associate with herbs and lavender, and the placement is deliberate and slightly subversive. The fruit reads less as sweetness and more as a cool, slightly tart counterweight to artemisia's bitterness and cypress's resin. Against the green herbs, blueberry introduces a different register, something almost edible but stripped of any sugar, just pure fruit acidity working as a structural element. The cardamom-patchouli pairing does quiet work too.
The evolution
The opening belongs to petitgrain and artemisia, and they're bright, herbal, and a little bitter, like crushed leaves on a hot stone. Cardamom threads through, giving the opening a dry warmth that reads as spice without sweetness. This is the most aromatic phase, green and slightly medicinal in the best way. If you stop here, you'd assume the whole fragrance goes clean and crisp. Then the cypress arrives. It brings the resin, the dark-green wood note that shifts everything from fresh to grounded. Blueberry surfaces next, not jammy, more like the cool tartness of fruit that hasn't fully ripened. During this window Azione smells the most like its name suggests: poised, ready, slightly tense. The fougère structure is visible here, green herbs sitting over something warmer that hasn't fully surfaced.
Cultural impact
Azione was released in 2011 and fits within a period where Tonino Lamborghini was building out its fragrance offerings, expanding the range of compositions available under the brand name. Its aromatic-green profile positions it as a more introspective option within the brand's catalog, a composition that leans into herbal and green notes rather than sweeter or more aggressive directions. The fougère structure gives it a classical backbone while the inclusion of blueberry adds a modern, slightly unexpected twist that keeps it from feeling like a straightforward heritage release.
