The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
TH Bold arrived in 2015 as a Woody Aromatic composition built around grapefruit, tangerine, and bergamot in the opening, anchored by cedar and vetiver underneath. Rafael Nadal fronted the campaign, which told you everything about who the brand imagined wearing this: an athlete in transit, not a model in a tuxedo. The fragrance itself is stripped of ornament, a straightforward pour that doesn't ask you to decode it or appreciate any hidden architecture. You spray it on and you get citrus, then you get wood, and that's the whole conversation. The composition feels built for movement, for gym bags and carry-ons and the kind of morning where you're out the door in three minutes. There's a confidence in that simplicity, a refusal to dress up what doesn't need dressing up.
What's interesting here is the restraint. TH Bold keeps the heart and the base structurally similar to the opening, leaning on cedar, citrus, sandalwood, and vetiver in a flat, honest pyramid. The cedar carries through from the middle into the base with the citrus, and the sandalwood smooths the transition rather than announcing a new chapter. There's no dramatic shift between phases, no hidden base note waiting to ambush you later in the wear. It's transparent about what it is from spray to drydown, and that consistency is part of its appeal.
The evolution
On skin, the opening hits fast and clean. Tangerine, pomelo, blood grapefruit, and bergamot arrive together in one bright citrus wave. The blood grapefruit carries noticeable weight in the blend, lending a deeper, almost pulpy sweetness compared to the sharper tangerine brightness sitting alongside it. Bergamot adds its familiar slightly bitter, aromatic lift, and the pomelo rounds things out with a softer citrus character. The four notes blend into a single cheerful burst of freshness rather than competing with each other. Then the cedar and vetiver slide in underneath the citrus and the composition stays remarkably linear. What changes is intensity. The citrus fades first, leaving the woody skeleton holding shape. By the time you're well into the wear, you're mostly smelling clean cedar and a faint trace of vetiver close to the skin.
Cultural impact
TH Bold occupies a specific lane: an affordable Woody Aromatic that delivers citrus and cedar without complication, tied to a recognizable athletic campaign. Rafael Nadal's involvement positioned the fragrance in casual, sporty territory rather than evening or formal contexts, reinforcing the all-American athletic identity the brand trades on. The campaign visuals leaned into movement, training, and competition rather than tailored suits or nightclub lighting. Wearers reach for it when they want something clean, easy, and reliably inoffensive across a range of casual settings.
