The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Untamed Candy Escape is part of The Dua Brand's Designer Line, a 2025 addition to a catalog that interprets high-end compositions for a wider audience. This release offers a take on Mancera's Wild Candy, reframed through the house's own blend of tropical gourmand and floral amber sensibilities. The composition leans into a whirlwind of indulgence, but there's enough structure underneath the sugar to wear beyond a single season. It opens with a sugary brightness that catches you off guard, the kind of first impression that makes you want to keep sniffing your wrist. The candy shell holds together through the first hour before the warmer, more resinous notes begin pulling the whole thing into deeper territory.
What makes the composition worth pausing on is the tension between its gourmand instincts and its floral backbone. Cocoa and coconut could easily collapse into dessert territory, but the iris and Bulgarian rose anchor the heart with a powdery, almost suede-like quality. The Tiare flower and ylang-ylang bring the sunscreen-laced tropical element without making the whole thing read like a beach product. Siam benzoin and amber handle the base, lending a resinous warmth that softens the white musk rather than letting it turn clinical.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes belong to the citruses, peach, and coconut, bright and almost sparkling before settling into the creamy. The Tiare and ylang arrive quickly, carrying the opening into something closer to sun-warmed skin than sunscreen. By the two-hour mark, the iris has fully woken up, and the Bulgarian rose tightens the whole composition into something quieter and more intimate. The cocoa and benzoin show up around the third hour, introducing a resinous warmth that replaces the tropical sweetness with something deeper and slightly spiced. The white musk carries the final stretch, a soft, clean close that lingers on clothes the following morning. On fabric, expect traces well into the next day. The way the fragrance transitions from its bright, almost fizzy opening into the quieter, more introspective drydown is what makes the wear interesting.
Cultural impact
Untamed Candy Escape sits within The Dua Brand's Designer Line, a collection of releases that reimagine established fragrance profiles. The Designer Line draws on well-known compositions and reshapes them, and Untamed Candy Escape takes Mancera's Wild Candy as its starting point. The fragrance works well for warm-weather evenings and casual occasions, where the tropical sweetness can shine without feeling out of place. The coconut and Tiare combination gives it that sun-warmed quality, while the iris and Bulgarian rose keep the heart grounded enough to avoid reading as one-dimensional.
