The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Strength of Wind joined The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection in 2020, a period when the house was expanding its catalog of citrus and floral compositions. The fragrance draws its concept from nature's most elemental force, wind, as a carrier for the natural aromas of citrus groves and Mediterranean gardens. Blood orange, bergamot, neroli, and lemon form the bright top layer, while magnolia, orange blossom, cyclamen, and tagetes build a white floral heart that evokes blooming fields. The tagetes adds an herbal counterpoint to the creamier florals, almost like a crushed stem tucked into a bouquet of petals. Together, the top and heart read like sunlight on water, all sparkle and softness at once.
What separates Strength of Wind from a typical citrus floral is the sheer number of white florals in the heart. Magnolia, orange blossom, neroli, cyclamen, and tagetes stack on top of each other, giving the composition a creamy, almost soapy depth. The tagetes contributes a green, slightly herbal edge that keeps the bouquet from tipping into pure sweetness. Add cedar, vetiver, sandalwood, amber, and musk to the base, and the drydown carries genuine woody weight rather than dissolving into sheer freshness.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes are pure citrus spectacle. Blood orange and bergamot hit sharp and bright, with lemon and neroli amplifying the zesty opening. It's the loudest the fragrance will ever be, bright enough to fill a small room. Then the white florals arrive, magnolia and orange blossom soften the citrus into something rounder, while cyclamen adds a watery, green freshness that keeps the composition from going heavy. Tagetes weaves a subtle herbal thread through the bouquet, almost like crushed stems tucked behind the petals. By the two-hour mark, the sandalwood and cedar begin to ground everything, and the vetiver starts doing its quiet work underneath, grassy and slightly smoky. The neroli still flickers at the edges throughout the early drydown, keeping a citrus thread alive even as the woods take over.
Cultural impact
Strength of Wind carries the unmistakable signature of a Mediterranean-inspired citrus floral, built around the interplay of neroli, white florals, and a vetiver-anchored base. The top layer of blood orange, bergamot, neroli, and lemon reads as sunlit and immediate, while the heart of magnolia, orange blossom, cyclamen, and tagetes brings a creamy, herbal depth that lifts the composition beyond a simple citrus splash. The base of sandalwood, cedar, vetiver, amber, and musk grounds everything with woody warmth and a quiet, skin-close drydown.
