The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Some florals whisper. Hypnotic Tuberose does not. Released by The Dua Brand in 2025, it sits within the house's Inspired Expression line, where the focus stays squarely on building compositions with weight and character. The composition centers on tuberose, the dense and heady bloom that anchors the entire structure, then drapes it in peach skin and coconut blossom, adding a creamy, sun-warmed softness that tempers the flower's intensity. The base grounds everything in amberwood and sandalwood, lending warmth and an almost tactile richness that keeps the white floral from floating away. There's volume here, and it's earned. The peach gives a fleshy, ripe opening that feels almost edible before the tuberose rolls in with its full narcotic weight, indolic and unapologetic.
The opening pairing is a deliberate tension builder. Peach skin and coconut blossom give the first minutes a fleshy, almost suntan-lotion sweetness, which makes the arrival of tuberose hit harder. That contrast between edible warmth and narcotic bloom is the engine of the composition. The base then grounds everything in white musk, amberwood, and sandalwood, pulling the floral out of any risk of feeling thin. The result is a tuberose that feels indulgent and modern rather than vintage or funeral-adjacent.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes belong to peach and coconut. Warm, slightly tropical, and deceptively gentle. Then the florals arrive, and the temperature shifts. Tuberose takes the lead, fleshy and indolic, with jasmine and pink rose flanking it for sweetness and lift. This is the loudest phase, the one that projects. Give it 2 to 3 hours and the white florals start to recede. What replaces them is the warm, woody base: amberwood, sandalwood, and white musk, all skin-close, all lasting. The 4-6 hour mark finds the fragrance still present but quieter, a drydown that clings to fabric and skin. On clothes the next day, the sandalwood lingers, soft and slightly sweet, like a memory of the night before.
Cultural impact
Hypnotic Tuberose arrives as a white floral that refuses to be tamed. Tuberose is one of perfumery's most demanding materials, dense, indolic, and notoriously difficult to balance, and most modern interpretations pull back, softening the bloom until only a suggestion remains. This one doesn't. Hypnotic Tuberose pushes the flower forward, lets it speak at full volume, and builds the rest of the composition to support rather than dilute that intensity. The peach skin opens with a ripe, almost sun-warmed sweetness, and the coconut blossom adds a creamy, lactonic softness that keeps the tuberose from skewing sharp.
