The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Mahsam Raza built His Perspective for 2026 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression line. The brief was straightforward: take the elegant architecture of Prada's Paradigme and reconstruct it through the lens of The Dua Brand's house approach. No reinvention, just a faithful reading of what makes the original work. Raza's body of work has consistently mapped the terrain of high-end compositions, and His Perspective continues that thread. The fragrance strips the concept down to its essentials: bergamot for the opening lift, geranium to introduce aromatic tension, and a deep amber-woody foundation of guaiac wood, Peru balsam, and benzoin to carry the long arc. Part of the Dua Designer Line, the fragrance represents a core philosophy executed without compromise.
What sets this composition apart is the layering of three amber-building materials: amber itself, amberwood, and benzoin, stacked on a base of guaiac wood and Peru balsam. The amber accord is golden and resinous, occupying the center of the composition with a warmth that feels both luminous and grounded. Amberwood deepens that warmth, lending a woody dimension that bridges the floral heart and the balsamic base. Benzoin then steps in with its characteristic smoothness, a resinous note that rounds out the rougher edges and gives the drydown its soft, slightly sweet finish.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes are almost deceptive. Bergamot hits bright and lifted, carrying a green-tinged citrus that feels immediate and clean. Geranium arrives quickly, softening the citrus with its aromatic, floral quality. For the opening stretch, the composition reads clean and fresh-spiced, more aromatic than amber-woody. Then something shifts. The amber accord blooms from the center, warm and golden, pulling the Peru balsam up with it. As the hours pass, the composition enters its real character: a dense, resinous amber-woody with guaiac wood's smoky depth underneath. Benzoin smooths the edges, adding a soft sweetness that prevents the smoke from turning harsh. The drydown is the strongest phase. Musk settles against skin, benzoin creates a faint amber haze, and the guaiac wood keeps its quiet authority.
Cultural impact
His Perspective exists within The Dua Brand's broader catalog of designer-inspired compositions. It draws on the structural language of Prada's Paradigme, taking that established profile and rendering it through the brand's own approach. The fragrance is amber-woody in structure, with guaiac wood and Peru balsam providing depth, benzoin adding smoothness, and a bergamot-geranium combination handling the opening and heart. For wearers who appreciate the architecture of amber-woody compositions, His Perspective offers a version that emphasizes the smoky warmth of guaiac wood and the balsamic richness of Peru balsam.
