The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Mahsam Raza built this one for the back half of the evening, when conversation slows and something warm lands in the glass. Launched in 2026 as part of The Dua Brand's Original Blend Collection, Choco Toffee Coffee skips the polite introduction and goes straight to the good stuff. Roasted espresso, milk chocolate, butter toffee. It's a gourmand composition that doesn't apologize for being exactly what it says it is. The opening hits with that espresso note front and center, dark and slightly scorched at the edges, the way a properly pulled shot smells before anything dilutes it. Almost immediately the milk chocolate folds in, and the combination reads less like two separate ingredients and more like a mocha that's been allowed to cool just enough to let the dairy sweetness show through.
What makes this composition work isn't the chocolate or the coffee in isolation. It's the structural tension between them, held together by toffee that refuses to let either side win. The candied lemon peel cuts through the opening like a window cracked in a warm kitchen, bright and slightly citric, and that bit of acid keeps the whole thing from going soft too early. Without it, the espresso and chocolate would collapse into a single sweet blur within minutes. Instead the lemon does its work early and then steps aside, letting the gourmand heart take over without resistance.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes belong to espresso and candied lemon peel, and the lemon does more work than expected. It sharpens the coffee, gives the opening a brightness that prevents it from collapsing into straight sweetness. The spices are present but quiet, a background hum rather than a statement, the kind of warmth that registers more as texture than as a recognizable note on its own. Then the milk chocolate arrives, and the whole thing shifts. The coffee steps back, the cocoa powder fills in alongside milk chocolate and toffee, and the vanilla cream smooths everything into a continuous warmth. This is the sweet spot, the phase that earns the fragrance its name. The toffee does the heavy lifting here, sticky and golden and unmistakable, the kind of sweetness that coats the inside of the nose and lingers long after the spritz has dried down.
Cultural impact
Choco Toffee Coffee arrives at a moment when gourmand perfumery has become a familiar category for buyers exploring beyond the traditional fresh and floral offerings. The composition draws on the same coffee-and-cocoa shorthand that has made espresso-forward fragrances a recognizable reference point for anyone sampling the current crop of indie and niche houses. Roasted coffee, milk chocolate, and butter toffee form a trio that reads instantly as dessert, and the addition of candied lemon peel gives the scent a playful twist that keeps it from feeling like a retread of older coffee-themed releases.
