The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Be In Love arrived in 2021 as a statement: sweetness doesn't need an apology. The Dua Brand built its name on the idea that great scent shouldn't require a luxury budget, and this fragrance is exactly that promise kept. It's inspired by Kilian's Love Don't Be Shy, a fragrance known for its bold, unapologetic character: orange blossom, vanilla, marshmallow, and a civet note that keeps the sweetness from becoming precious. The Dua Brand saw people who wanted that profile but couldn't justify the original's price. So they made it. Same intention, different cost. Be In Love is the answer to a question a lot of people were asking.
The genius is in the civet. Most sweet fragrances play it safe, no animalic, just sugar and florals. Be In Love doesn't flinch. The civet sits underneath from the start, adding a warmth that evolves as the sweeter notes bloom around it. It's what transforms this from 'dessert' to 'someone you're attracted to.' Orange blossom and honeysuckle provide the romantic fullness, vanilla and sugar provide the sweetness, and the civet makes sure it never becomes just another pleasant floral. That's the trifecta.
The evolution
The opening announces itself clearly. Neroli and bergamot hit bright and sparkling, with pink pepper adding a soft spark that keeps it from being just another sweet fragrance. Clean, warm, alive. Within thirty minutes, the florals take over. Honeysuckle and jasmine arrive in force, sweet and full, wrapping around orange blossom and rose. The civet is present here too, adding an animalic undertone that keeps it from being precious. It smells expensive. Not for everyone, but undeniably interesting. By the drydown, the florals have softened into something quieter. Vanilla and sugar remain, with caramel and marshmallow adding a gourmand warmth that lingers close. The civet settles into the base alongside labdanum, giving depth that outlasts the sweetness. This is the part that stays. Not projecting across a room, just there, on the skin, for someone standing close enough to notice. Longevity holds through a full workday. By hour eight, it's a memory of sugar on warm skin.
Cultural impact
Be In Love has built a loyal following in fragrance communities where it functions as the affordable answer to a beloved original. Wearers describe it as the scent of someone who walks into a room and doesn't need to announce themselves. The Dupe subreddit crowd has made it a cult staple, it's the fragrance people reach for when they want the Kilian experience without the splurge.
