The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Expo 2020, World Forum arrived in 2022, part of Taif Al Emarat's GCC Collection. The name marks Dubai's moment on the world stage, when the city opened its doors to millions of visitors under the Expo 2020 banner, and the fragrance was built to bottle something of that feeling: welcoming, modern, unmistakably Gulf. It is a commemorative composition, designed to capture the optimism and the sense of occasion that defined those months, the long-awaited fair finally arriving, pavilions humming with conversation, the air thick with anticipation and the mingling scents of a hundred national offerings. The scent itself opens with a bright burst that recalls warm afternoons under Dubai's winter sun, crisp and inviting without ever feeling sharp.
What separates this from a standard fresh citrus floral is the structure underneath. The opening is undeniably bright, four top notes pulling in different directions, bergamot for sparkle, lemon for snap, blackcurrant for a green-fruity sweetness, and orange blossom adding a honeyed, almost indolic lift. Each one is distinct, and together they create a kind of layered crispness that rarely shows up in compositions this accessible.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes are all about lift. Bergamot and lemon cut through with that sharp, almost fizzy quality, and the blackcurrant threads underneath, green and slightly tart, while orange blossom softens the edges so the opening never reads as cold. There's a clean-laundry, just-showered quality here, the kind of freshness that makes a first impression count, but it's never sterile. The brightness doesn't disappear, it banks down. By the one-hour mark, the citrus recedes and the floral heart takes over. Cyclamen adds a watery, translucent quality, almost like a cool breath over warm skin, and magnolia brings a creamy, lemony floral note that rounds everything out. This is the most powdery phase, soft and slightly soapy in a way that feels intentional rather than dated. On a warm day the florals bloom bigger; in cooler air they stay tight and close. The drydown starts revealing itself around the two-hour mark, and it's the longest, slowest phase of the fragrance.
Cultural impact
World Forum by Taif Al Emarat carries the ambition of the UAE onto an international stage, channeling the optimism of Expo 2020 into a bottle. The composition gathers notes from across a wide aromatic spectrum, citrus brightness, green-fruity sweetness, honeyed florals, and a warm musky-woody base, into a single accord that reads as a kind of olfactory travelogue. The opening is layered and multi-directional, the bergamot offering sparkle, the lemon contributing a sharp zestiness, the blackcurrant rounding things out with a jammy, slightly tart sweetness that keeps the whole accord in balance.
