The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Scarlet Venom arrived in 2025, composed by Pierre-Constantin Guéros for Sedra Perfumes. The official description calls it a captivating oriental vanilla fragrance that opens with vibrant bergamot and the irresistible sweetness of raspberry. That pairing is the whole brief. A cold citrus note against a lush, almost tart fruit, which then falls into caramel, sandalwood and patchouli. The name points at the color and the feeling it carries: deep red, warm, a little dangerous. Sedra built the scent as a unisex fragrance for women and men, and the intensity of the amber-vanilla base gives it a bold, expressive character. Bergamot contributes a clean, sparkling lift, while raspberry introduces a juicy sweetness with a gently tart edge.
What makes the pyramid worth reading twice is the swing between fresh and molten. Bergamot gives the opening a clean, zesty lift, raspberry pulls it back toward dessert, and caramel bridges the two with a cooked, syrupy warmth. Then patchouli and sandalwood arrive to keep all that sweetness from floating away. They add a woody, slightly earthy floor that gives the composition weight and balance. It's a familiar gourmand architecture, while the fruit-led top keeps the sweet notes vivid and multidimensional.
The evolution
The first impression is lively and layered. Bergamot lifts the composition with a bright, zesty quality, and raspberry sits over it like fruit gloss, adding sweetness and a gently tart edge. The opening gradually shifts toward a warmer, slower character as caramel takes over the middle. Its cooked, syrupy texture gives the fragrance a rich sweetness, while patchouli contributes a soft smoky depth. Sandalwood rounds out the structure with a smooth, creamy grain that keeps the sweetness from becoming too loud. The drydown settles into the fragrance's warm base: vanilla, tonka bean absolute and amber create a soft, balsamic impression with a faint powdery nuance. Amber adds resinous warmth, tonka bean brings a gentle sweetness, and vanilla supplies a creamy finish.
Cultural impact
Scarlet Venom brings together a vivid fruit opening and a warm vanilla-amber heart. Vibrant bergamot contributes a clean, zesty brightness, while raspberry adds a juicy sweetness that keeps the composition lively. The fragrance then moves into caramel, sandalwood and patchouli, creating a layered contrast between fresh citrus, rounded fruit and rich woody warmth. Patchouli adds an earthy depth, sandalwood gives the structure a creamy texture, and the base of vanilla, tonka bean absolute and amber completes the scent with soft sweetness and resinous warmth.
