The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sedra Perfumes launched in Kuwait in 2022 with a clear mission: blend Arabian perfume heritage with a modern unisex sensibility. Magenta arrived in 2023 as part of the Femi Collection, a line designed to translate bold creativity into scent. The house took its cue from the vivid magenta hue itself, wanting a fragrance that embodied the color's energetic expression and gender-free allure. The perfumer worked with Kuwait's rich tradition of resinous, warmly spiced compositions while pushing toward something more contemporary and visually arresting in its olfactory story.
The note selection reflects a deliberate balance between contrast and cohesion. Cherry and saffron were chosen for their ability to capture attention immediately, while patchouli ensures the opening has grounding rather than sheer brightness. The heart introduces floral and gourmand elements in jasmine and caramel, offering a shift that feels natural rather than abrupt. The base leans into the warm woods and amber that define Arabian fragrance tradition, creating a foundation that feels culturally rooted yet globally appealing.
The evolution
The journey begins with cherry and saffron, a pairing that is both bright and spicy, grounded quickly by patchouli's earthy weight. As the fragrance develops, caramel and jasmine emerge to shift the mood from energetic to indulgent, the jasmine tempering the sweetness of the caramel. The evolution continues into a base where amber and vanilla lead, supported by sandalwood and cedarwood for structure, while musk quietly extends the warmth into the final hours of wear.
Cultural impact
Since its 2023 debut, Magenta has become a favorite among Sedra’s unisex fans, especially on social platforms where its bold cherry‑saffron opening sparks conversation. Wearers often cite its ability to bridge playful sweetness with warm oriental depth, making it a go‑to for evening gatherings and creative nights out. The fragrance’s gender‑free stance aligns with the brand’s inclusive philosophy, resonating with a younger, globally‑connected audience that values both heritage and contemporary flair.
