The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Forest.Blends was born from a single question: what does blending actually mean? Not mixing notes for balance, but taking distinct kinds of forest, different altitudes, different barks, different silences, and recomposing them into something that feels more true than any single source. Philippe Paparella-Paris built the fragrance around cashmere wood, a material that doesn't exist in nature but captures something essential about the forest floor: the warmth beneath the cold, the softness hiding in the hard. The name is the instruction. Take the forest. Blend it. See what's left.
Cashmere wood is the uncommon thread here. It's a synthetic aromatic material, constructed in a lab to evoke the idea of wood, warmth, and softness simultaneously, and it's what sets Forest.Blends apart from more conventional leather compositions. Paparella-Paris paired it with Atlas cedar for structure, rose for unexpected tenderness, and Cypriol oil for an earthy, almost tar-like depth that keeps the drydown honest. The result is a fragrance that doesn't play by the usual pyramid rules. It's not linear, exactly, but it moves with purpose, from citrus brightness to smoky warmth to something animalic and close.
The evolution
The opening is all contrast. Bergamot and grapefruit arrive first, sharp and sunny, but the saffron doesn't wait, it pushes through with a warmth that feels almost intrusive. The citrus was a trick. This fragrance was never going to be polite. By the time the heart arrives, the cashmere wood has already taken hold. It's smoky, resinous, carrying the memory of forest floors and late autumn light filtering through canopy. The rose appears here, but subtly, threaded through the cedar rather than announced. A sweetness that refuses to dominate. The drydown is where Forest.Blends earns its name. Leather, vetiver, Cypriol, the woods stop being metaphorical. They're material now, animalic and close, settling into skin like the forest finally let you in and now refuses to let you leave.
Cultural impact
Forest.Blends arrived during a pivotal shift in niche perfumery, when independent houses began challenging mainstream fragrance conventions with unconventional material combinations. Scentologia's debut aligned with growing consumer interest in artisanal, story-driven scents that prioritized artistry over mass appeal. The fragrance's cashmere wood and Cypriol oil combination reflected a broader trend toward smoky, leathery compositions that resonated with enthusiasts seeking distinctiveness. By launching in 2021, Forest.Blends entered a market increasingly valuing transparency, sustainability, and unique olfactory signatures over celebrity endorsements or traditional marketing.
