The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Scentido, founded in 2018 in Mumbai, set out to bridge India's emerging scent culture with a global love for experiential perfume. Cherry Blossom was conceived as a tribute to the fleeting beauty of cherry trees that line the city's parks each spring. The brief asked for a unisex scent that could capture the transient magic of that bloom without relying on the typical watery-aquatic tropes common to spring releases. Instead, the creative direction leaned into powdery florals and a rum-kissed fruitiness that felt rooted in both warmth and nostalgia.
The note philosophy behind Cherry Blossom was about contrast: Fruity against Powdery, boozy against floral, green against sweet. The Rum in the opening was chosen specifically to give the Cherry a darker, more complex character than a straightforward cherry scent would achieve. Geranium and Heliotrope were selected to anchor the heart in a floral-green register that avoids the soapy linearity of many powdery fragrances. The drydown, anchored in Musk and Ambergris, reflects Scentido's broader commitment to base notes that feel personal and intimate rather than projected loudly into a room.
The evolution
The opening hits first with Cherry and Rum, an unexpected pairing that immediately sets Cherry Blossom apart from conventional spring florals. The Powdery Notes and Rose soften this boozy punch, creating an introduction that feels both celebratory and delicate. As the fragrance moves into its heart, Geranium introduces a cool, herbal counterpoint that steadies the sweetness. Jasmine takes over as the dominant floral voice, its heady richness tempered by Heliotrope's powdery almond character. By the time the drydown arrives, the perfume has shed its playfulness entirely. Musk and Ambergris provide an almost maritime warmth, while Vanilla adds a finish that is quietly sensual rather than indulgent.
Cultural impact
Since its debut, Cherry Blossom has become a quiet favorite among those seeking a spring‑time signature that works year‑round. Its unisex appeal and balanced powder‑fruit‑rum composition resonate with both casual wearers and fragrance enthusiasts who appreciate Scentido’s educational approach. The scent often appears in social‑media posts celebrating seasonal blooms, positioning it as a modern ode to classic cherry blossom festivals.
