Why it exists.
The beginning
SAFF & Co. built its name on fragrance as transport, caves in Slovenia, epic poetry, places that take you somewhere. Am Kamin takes that seriously. This collaboration with Indonesian fragrance influencer Michael David (@indofragz) brings an unexpected depth to the house's work. Perfumer Miroslav Petkov worked with SAFF & Co. to capture something specific: the sensation of genuine warmth, not a concept of it, but the actual feeling of comfort and settling in. The 2025 release arrived with its companion, Traumerei, offering two different approaches to atmosphere and the way scent can hold memory. Both fragrances explore where a scent can take you, and Am Kamin makes its case through leather, spice, and something unexpectedly soft at its center.
The note structure earns its contrasts through deliberate layering. Top notes of Sichuan pepper and green cardamom arrive sharp and assertive, a deliberate provocation that announces the fragrance's intentions. Thyme underneath prevents that spice from becoming one-dimensional, adding an herbal, slightly medicinal counterweight that keeps the opening grounded. The heart layers Cosmofruit, IFF's fruity-molecule signature, against lily of the valley, which brings its own quiet, slightly green floral character.
The evolution
The opening minutes announce themselves clearly. Sichuan pepper crackles on skin, cardamom adds weight beneath it, and together they form a spice-forward beginning that means business. The thyme arrives quietly, herbal and clean, preventing the opening from becoming overwhelming. As time passes, the spice softens and the heart emerges, and this is where Am Kamin reveals its actual intention. The Cosmofruit and lily of the valley arrive together, the fruit bright and round, the floral quiet and slightly green, and between them they create a sweetness that feels surprised to exist here, in a fragrance with leather at its core. The patchouli underneath keeps that sweetness honest, earthy and slightly dirty. As the fragrance develops further, the leather takes fuller command. This is the warmth properly: smoke and something animalic underneath, close to the skin.
Cultural impact
Am Kamin arrived in 2025 as part of a two-fragrance collaboration with Indonesian influencer @indofragz. The fragrance sits alongside Traumerei, the companion release that shares the same creative moment and collaboration. This pairing offers complementary approaches to atmosphere, with Am Kamin focused on warmth and leather while exploring the unexpected softness at the heart of a fragrance that could have gone harder. The Indofragz collaboration brought fragrance enthusiasts who follow niche influencer culture into SAFF & Co.'s world, expanding the house's reach into personal perfumery where it has been building its presence.
