The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Eternal arrived in 2014 from RisingWave, the Japanese fragrance house run by Fits Corporation, and it fits neatly into the brand's identity: light, wearable, built for the everyday. The fragrance itself follows an aromatic aquatic structure according to its major database listings, and the notes confirm that classification at every turn. The top opens with pink pepper, rhubarb, and kiwi, a trio that leans bright and slightly sharp, with the pepper giving a crisp edge and the rhubarb pulling tart. The heart brings watermelon, cyclamen, and jasmine together, with the watermelon acting as the main aquatic gesture, fruity and watery without resorting to the synthetic marine accord that dominates so many compositions in this category.
What makes Eternal worth a second look is how deliberately simple its structure is. The pink pepper does the spicing. The rhubarb does the tartness. The kiwi does the green, almost vegetal sweetness. Then watermelon steps in as the main aquatic note, which gives Eternal a juicier, more edible character than compositions that rely on calone and ozonic molecules. Cyclamen and jasmine add just enough floral lift to keep it from reading like a fruit salad, and the sandalwood-musk base makes sure the whole thing settles rather than evaporates.
The evolution
On skin, Eternal opens with a sharp, almost effervescent crack of pink pepper and rhubarb. The kiwi underneath reads green and slightly tart, not sweet, like the scent of cutting into the fruit rather than eating it. The opening phase feels cold and bright, the kind of cool snap that wakes up the skin. As the top notes soften, the watermelon and cyclamen have settled in. This is the cool middle phase: watery, faintly floral, with a sweetness that never tips into candy. Jasmine stays restrained, more of a whisper than a statement, a faint indolic hum beneath the fruit rather than a bouquet on top. The transition into the base happens gradually as the fruit notes lose their sharpness. Sandalwood arrives soft and creamy, with a faint woodsy darkness underneath.
Cultural impact
Eternal sits firmly within RisingWave's aquatic-fresh territory, a composition that leans into the fruity-aquatic space the brand has made its own. The fragrance combines watermelon and cyclamen at the heart, with kiwi and rhubarb providing a sharp top note contrast, and the overall effect is light, casual, and immediately wearable. The unpretentious character of the scent is part of its appeal, and the combination of fruit-driven top notes with a soft sandalwood and musk base gives it a versatility that works across casual settings.
