The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Art 11, Acqua Tua arrived in 2024 as the eleventh entry of the Profumi d'Art x Armaf numbered series. Italian perfumer Arturetto Landi, trained in Germany, was tasked with translating the concept of water into scent. Rather than defaulting to marine accords, Landi chose to capture water's refracting quality through layers of citrus, transparent florals, and clean woods. The collaboration itself blends the artistic sensibilities of an Italian nose with the bold, market-driven approach of a UAE fragrance house, resulting in a numbered series that prioritizes clarity and wearability.
The note philosophy behind Acqua Tua reflects a specific interpretation of water: not its oceanic depth or aquatic freshness, but its quality of clarity and light transmission. Bergamot and grapefruit serve as the water's surface, catching and scattering light. Jasmine and magnolia represent the refracted elements beneath, rendered in luminous, translucent florals. The tea note bridges these worlds, its vegetal character evoking both the mineral quality of spring water and the meditative calm of a cooling cup. Sandalwood and amber in the base ground this airy structure in warmth, ensuring the fragrance wears comfortably on skin rather than evaporating into pure abstraction.
The evolution
The opening of Acqua Tua hits immediately with bergamot and grapefruit, bright and unapologetic, evoking Mediterranean sunlight on coastal stones. Pink pepper arrives within seconds, adding a whisper of spice that prevents the citrus from feeling like a cleaning product. As the first hour progresses, the citrus softens and jasmine begins to bloom alongside magnolia, their petals unfolding with creamy, almost waxy richness. The tea note threads through this heart section like a cool breeze, keeping the florals grounded and fresh. By hour three, the fragrance settles into its drydown phase, where amber and sandalwood provide a warm, woody embrace. White musk lingers as a gentle reminder of skin, completing a journey from sunlit zest to evening calm.
Cultural impact
Acqua Tua reflects a growing cultural fascination with Mediterranean leisure lifestyles, where scent becomes an extension of the sea‑breeze aesthetic popular in contemporary art installations and social media travel narratives. Its bright bergamot and grapefruit top notes echo the region’s historic citrus trade, while the pink pepper adds a modern, cosmopolitan twist that resonates with younger audiences seeking vibrant, gender‑fluid expressions. By marrying traditional Italian perfumery techniques with the UAE’s luxury branding, the fragrance bridges European heritage and Middle Eastern market dynamics, illustrating how global collaborations can shape scent trends and influence consumer identity across borders.
