Voyage de l'Empereur draws directly from Napoleonic-era France, a period that defined the house's early identity. Plisson carries more than two centuries of heritage, rooted in an era when the brand served a world of officers and aristocrats. The 1808 Collection translates that heritage into fragrance, and this composition carries the brand's most archival reference. Perfumer Vincent Ricord built the scent around an iris that travels alongside leather, never yielding its refinement. The official description frames it as inspired by Napoleon's journeys, balancing the power of ambered leather against the elegance of powdered iris and the creamy warmth of ylang-ylang.
The composition's structural choice sets it apart from a standard leather. This one leads with carrot seed and iris at the top, a pairing that sets a quieter, more mineral tone before the leather arrives. Carrot seed carries an earthy, slightly bitter dryness that reads as old leather and worn canvas without the smoke. Rum adds a low sweetness that functions more like atmosphere than a note you can point at. The evolution

Leather and ylang-ylang take over the second wave, the ylang adding a creamy, almost coconut-warm lift that softens the leather's edge without domesticating it. The sandalwood underneath thickens the texture, and the composition reads as a warm, slightly sweet, slightly powdery leather with floral light catching in it. As the hours pass, the iris gradually fades, the ylang softens into something more skin-like, and papyrus and patchouli take over the floor.
