The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
This fragrance takes its inspiration from the Seychelles, that scattering of islands in the Indian Ocean. The concept centers on what happens when you return from such a destination, how the beach seems to follow you home, clinging to skin and memory. Appelez-Moi Seychelles imagines a chic Parisienne back on the Left Bank, her skin still carrying the salt and warmth of tropical air. Released as part of Pierre Guillaume Paris's Collection Croisière, the fragrance captures something intimate and personal, present in the skin, impossible to wear without thinking of heat and sea. The composition unfolds close to the body, translating a travel memory into something you carry with you rather than something that announces itself across a room.
The structure here is what makes it worth lingering over. It opens with the warm, waxy sweetness of frangipani, then layers in coconut milk and monoi oil, which add a creamy, slightly honeyed depth that feels sun-baked rather than synthetic. The salt keeps everything grounded and mineral, not aquatic in the traditional sense, but present, like the smell of skin after a long swim. There's a natural progression as the fragrance moves through its stages, each note building on what came before.
The evolution
The top notes arrive with warmth and immediacy, frangipani and white flowers unfurling bright and inviting, the salt providing lift without any delay. The florals have a waxy, almost creamy quality that feels natural rather than constructed. As the fragrance develops, the lily sweetness emerges alongside coconut milk and monoi oil, that tiare-and-coconut blend that evokes warm skin and beach air. The florals don't simply disappear as time passes; instead they deepen, becoming creamier and more intimate as the coconut milk accord takes hold and the overall impression becomes richer and more rounded. The base reveals additional complexity: petitgrain's citrusy greenness, galbanum's sharp herb, and the ginger and black pepper adding a quiet spicy warmth beneath the coconut. The salt persists throughout, that mineral, skin-close quality that gives this fragrance its distinctive character.
Cultural impact
Discontinued after its launch, Appelez-Moi Seychelles occupies a distinctive place in the tropical fragrance landscape. The composition avoids the obvious references to suntan oil or sunscreen that often plague beach-themed fragrances, instead finding its warmth elsewhere. The coconut milk and monoi heart give the fragrance a particular character, creamy and sunlit without veering into territory that feels synthetic or heavy. White florals anchor the composition, providing structure and sophistication beneath the tropical notes.
