Pierre Guillaume
Pierre Guillaume grew up in a family of chemists in Clermont‑Ferrand, where shelves of essential oils became his playground. As a child he mixed citrus drops with pine resin, learning how raw materials react before he ever entered a lab. He earned a chemistry degree, then spent seven years mastering the art of perfume creation under the mentorship of established noses in Paris. In 2002 he released his first solo fragrance, Coze, and instantly earned a reputation for precision. He founded the house Pierre Guillaume Paris, later expanding to collaborate with Phaedon. Today he guides a small team that treats each formula as a laboratory experiment, delivering scents that balance rigor with imagination. He continues to mentor emerging noses, sharing his meticulous approach through workshops and private consultations.

How Pierre composes
Pierre Guillaume favors a laboratory mindset, using classic French techniques while experimenting with rare absolutes. He builds structures around a solid base of woods, resins, and amber, then layers bright florals or citrus to create contrast. He prefers natural extracts such as albizia, itabaia, and jasmine, often pairing them with synthetic accords that add depth without masking the original scent. His formulas reveal a clear progression: a crisp opening, a heart that unfolds slowly, and a dry‑down that persists for hours. He insists on testing each batch on skin to capture how temperature and chemistry interact.
Philosophy
What drives Pierre
Pierre Guillaume treats scent as a dialogue between chemistry and memory. He believes a perfume must respect the integrity of each ingredient, so he isolates notes until they reveal their true character. He draws inspiration from the natural world, from the bark of an African tree to the aroma of a Parisian bakery at dawn. His work rests on discipline: he measures, records, and revisits each blend until the composition feels honest. He avoids trends that chase novelty; instead he seeks moments that linger in the mind, inviting the wearer to pause and reflect.
