The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
La Joie was created by Manon Coen and launched in 2026 by Parfois. Its name points toward the pleasure of a green floral fragrance that never sits still: fruits, bergamot, cassis, and green leaves arrive first, bright and lightly sparkling, before jasmine, iris, and rosewood bring a more composed floral center. Musk, cedarwood, and amber complete the composition with a warm, polished base. The idea is familiar yet specific, a fragrance that pairs the lively feeling of fruit and foliage with the poise of a polished salon scent.
The composition works because its opening and center take different routes toward elegance. Cassis and fruits bring a juicy, sparkling accent, while bergamot adds a clean citrus lift. Green notes keep that brightness connected to leaves rather than making it purely sweet. Jasmine and iris soften the impact, giving the floral heart a powdery, graceful texture. Rosewood adds depth, then musk, cedarwood, and amber provide a steady foundation. It is a green floral with structure, not a single-note garden effect.
The evolution
La Joie starts with a crisp, fruit-forward pulse. Cassis, bergamot, fruits, and green notes create the lively first impression, with citrus keeping it clean and leaves giving it a fresh, outdoorsy edge. That brightness then hands over to jasmine, iris, and rosewood. The heart feels softer and more polished, almost powdery in places, while the rosewood keeps it from becoming purely floral. As the fragrance settles, musk, cedarwood, and amber bring the warmth and steadiness. The final impression is less like a burst of fruit and more like skin, wood, and a trace of amber. It gives the composition a moderate, easy presence, with a 4-6 hour wear expected on skin.
Cultural impact
La Joie sits within Parfois's Versailles-descended, modern salon positioning: feminine, polished, and shaped for everyday discovery. Its green floral profile places it in a familiar fragrance lane while the fruit, iris, and rosewood combination gives it a particular fashion-brand sensibility, especially for wearers who enjoy bright openings with a softer, more composed finish.
The House
ParfoisParfois entered the fragrance world in 2024 with the launch of its first perfume collection, marking a significant expansion for the fashion and accessories brand. The debut collection features multiple Eau de Toilette offerings including La Nuit Intense, Le Violet, Le Citron, Oasis of Flowers, Whisper, Le Vert, The Sun, La Bohème, La Nuit Sereine, and Le Nude, spanning floral, woody, citrus, and aromatic fragrance families. The collection is described as inspired by nature and presented in collectible sets, reflecting the brand's approach to making fragrance accessible as part of a broader lifestyle aesthetic. As a relative newcomer to fine fragrance, Parfois brings its established retail identity, rooted in fashion accessories, into the scented goods arena with a collection that aims to capture diverse olfactory territories. The brand operates primarily from its roots in fashion retail, with a presence across multiple markets through its accessory and lifestyle product lines.
The Creator
Manon CoenCoen's signature leans into warmth and texture. She gravitates toward ingredients that feel edible and enveloping, especially nuts, cream, and ripe fruit, though she tempers sweetness with green notes and spices to keep compositions from flattening.
