Why it exists.
The beginning
Aries is part of Outis's Guardian Star Series, a zodiac cycle rendered in scent. Wei Bai composed it for the ram, and the brief wasn't floral sweetness or musky warmth. It was kinetic energy, the burst before the sprint, the spark that doesn't ask permission. Wei Bai reached for bitter orange and lemon first, not for their brightness but for their bite. That snap is the Aries signature: forward, unapologetic, already in motion before you register it arrived. The oakmoss beneath grounds the citrus without dulling it, pulling the composition toward something rooted and real rather than fleeting and pretty.
What makes Aries structurally interesting is its inversion of expectation. Currant leaf and patchouli anchor the base, giving the green notes structural weight rather than letting them evaporate. The result reads less like a cologne splash and more like a composition with intent. Bitter orange and lemon repeat across top and heart, a structural rhyme that keeps the citrus alive well past the opening window. The evolution

The opening is bright, slightly bitter, with a green mineral edge that reads more rocky than leafy. Mint surfaces shortly after, cooling the citrus without flattening it. Bergamot joins from the heart alongside a second wave of orange and lemon, but the composition has already started shifting toward something greener and more herbal. Basil enters quietly, threading through the citrus like a stem through fruit. As the hours pass, the composition settles into a cool herbal register where currant leaf dominates.
