The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Lunch arrived in 2024 as part of OMR Beauty's expanding catalog of perfume oils, built on a jojoba base that's alcohol-free and meant to melt into skin. The Swedish fragrance house treats scent as a deeply personal medium, with a catalog that leans into concentrated oil formats over traditional sprays. The brief here seems deceptively simple: a floral woods composition built around the soft, powdery space between orris and peach, carried by a concentrated oil format that trades projection for intimacy. Bergamot, apple blossom, and freesia open the conversation, each one adding a different facet of brightness before the composition settles into its warmer core.
What separates Lunch from a thousand powdery florals is the structure underneath. Orris root and heliotrope carry that vintage lipstick feel, but the peach and apple blossom push it somewhere younger, almost gourmand-adjacent without ever crossing into sweetness. The patchouli in the base is there to anchor the powder rather than add earthiness, doing quiet structural work. Sandalwood and cedarwood do the same, creating a soft, woody backbone that keeps the composition from drifting into pure creaminess.
The evolution
The first few minutes are the brightest thing about it. Bergamot, apple blossom, and peach arrive like natural light through a window, citrus-tinted, fruity in a way that reads more like juice than syrup. Twenty minutes in, that brightness recedes and the orris takes over. Freesia and orange blossom add lift, but heliotrope is what gives the heart its texture, a soft, almond-powder warmth that sticks to skin like talc on warm fabric. The patchouli surfaces slowly, almost reluctantly, adding a faint soil note that grounds the florals without darkening them. By the three-hour mark it's mostly musk, sandalwood, and that ghost of orris, close to the skin, warm, faintly sweet. On fabric the next morning, it's powder and skin, and not much else, but that's the point. It doesn't shout. It stays.
Cultural impact
Lunch reads as a softer, more polished counterpoint within OMR Beauty's catalog, quieter than the warmth-coded options and more restrained than the brighter entries in the lineup. The jojoba oil base sets it apart from alcohol-heavy sprays, and the resulting sillage stays close to skin, making it the kind of scent that rewards proximity rather than announcing itself across a room. The orris and peach combination gives it a powdery, slightly creamy profile, and the overall composition feels suited to moments that call for something intimate.
