The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Wood is a fragrance from Mon Bouquet, marketed by Deraah Trading Company. The name sets the direction clearly, but the composition is more layered than the title suggests. Bergamot brings a bright opening, while black pepper and cardamom add a lively aromatic spice. Beneath that brightness, cashmeran, vetiver, and cedarwood establish a woody center with a clean, natural character. The base of frankincense, tonka bean, and vanilla adds depth and warmth, balancing the drier wood tones with a soft sweetness. Wood is neither spare nor loud. It moves between freshness, spice, and a gentle creaminess, giving the familiar idea of wood a more expressive shape.
What makes Wood interesting is the way its different elements share the same space. Bergamot gives the opening brightness, while black pepper and cardamom introduce a darker aromatic edge. Cashmeran brings a smooth, almost tactile softness, and vetiver adds an earthy, green character. Cedarwood keeps the composition connected to its name, though it is joined by materials that make the result feel less austere. Frankincense introduces depth, tonka bean brings a warm sweetness, and vanilla softens the structure without becoming the sole focus. Nothing here needs to shout.
The evolution
Wood begins with the lift of bergamot, bright and clean against the warmer presence of black pepper and cardamom. The opening feels lively and aromatic, with citrus keeping the composition open while the spices give it a darker edge. As the fragrance settles, cashmeran brings a smooth, soft texture. Vetiver adds an earthy character, and cedarwood gives the center a clear woody direction. The base develops into a warmer combination of frankincense, tonka bean, and vanilla. Frankincense gives it depth, tonka bean adds rounded sweetness, and vanilla leaves a soft finish. The progression moves from brightness to warmth, but the structure remains balanced throughout.
Cultural impact
Wood occupies an appealing middle ground between freshness and warmth. Bergamot and the aromatic notes of black pepper and cardamom make the opening lively, while cashmeran, vetiver, and cedarwood give it a grounded center. Frankincense adds depth, and tonka bean and vanilla bring a gentle sweetness to the base. The result is a composition that can feel equally at home in a layered wardrobe or simply worn as a signature scent. Its appeal lies in the balance between clean citrus, spice, smooth texture, and woody warmth, with enough variation to keep the fragrance interesting as it develops.
