The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The French Riviera never truly lets go, and Amélie Mancera is proof. Cannes. The Esterel hills. Golden light shimmering over the sea. This is where she grew up, and where the original French Riviera was born: a solar, elegant creation that became a house signature. When Mancera opened its first boutique in Cannes, returning to that inspiration felt inevitable. Pierre and Amélie went back to their source, refining the idea with greater contrast and intensity, Pierre's unmistakable approach, turned up a notch. Deeper waves. Same sunshine.
What makes this composition work is the tension between brightness and depth. The opening is all sharp citrus and ginger, a bracing Mediterranean lift, but it's anchored immediately by salt and mineral notes that keep the sweetness honest. The heart brings yellow florals, tiaré and mimosa, into a marine accord that's grounded by iodine and vetiver rather than drowned in synthetic water. Then Cambodian oud appears in the base, a deliberate counterweight to the brightness. It's there to remind you that this isn't just a sunny scent. It's one with something to say.
The evolution
The opening hits bright, citrus and ginger slicing through the air. Within minutes, salt and mineral warmth arrive, the hot-stone effect in full force. There's a tension here that's genuinely interesting: fresh and warm at the same time, like the moment the breeze carries both sea spray and the heat from sun-baked rocks. The heart settles into something more relaxed, marine notes softened by mimosa and vetiver. The oud is subtle here, present but not announcing itself. What lingers is salt and white musk, stretching well into the evening. On fabric, the sillage is moderate but persistent. On skin, it lasts a full day, the marine accord giving way slowly to warm ambergris and a clean, quiet finish that stays close but refuses to disappear.
Cultural impact
The 2025 release builds on the house's Mediterranean aquatic identity with more depth and contrast. Marine and salty notes meet mineral-wood base, creating something more distinctive than standard aquatics. Pierre Montale's touch is evident, this is bold, statement-making fragrance design.
