The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Le Bonheur Perfumes released Delicious Berry Sundae in 2025, with Nanako Ogi as the perfumer behind it. The name says dessert plainly, and the formula follows that instruction without apology. Apple, berries and strawberry open the composition, then raspberry takes over in the middle alongside a creamy lactonic note and marshmallow. The base settles into musk, sugar and vanilla, giving the whole thing the rounded finish of something scooped and served cold, then left out until it softened.
What makes this composition worth a second look is the handoff between fruit and dairy. Lactonic notes carry a reputation for sourness, the kind you find in spoiled milk or butter. Here they read clean instead, closer to cold milk than anything turned. Marshmallow softens that cream with a powdery texture, and sugar in the base pulls the whole structure toward edible without turning cloying. Berries keep the top sharp and bright so the sweetness never sits flat.
The evolution
It begins loud, with apple and mixed berries stacked bright enough to almost taste like cold fruit. Strawberry gives the opening a juicy top note, while raspberry deepens the fruit heart so it reads less like a single berry and more like a bowl. Then marshmallow and lactone arrive and change the temperature entirely. The sharpness softens into something closer to a blended shake, and the composition settles onto a base of vanilla, sugar and musk. As the fruit accord rounds off, the marshmallow note lends a plush, cushiony quality that smooths the edges of the sharper berries. The lactone contributes a creamy, dairy-like richness that makes the blend feel indulgent rather than simply sweet, giving the composition the rounded character of a dessert served cold and then left to soften at room temperature.
Cultural impact
Delicious Berry Sundae places a familiar dessert idea at the centre of a fragrance composition, and exploring it invites consideration of how gourmand scents sit within a broader catalogue of perfumery. The opening draws on apple, strawberry, raspberry and mixed berries, offering a bright, fruit-forward impression that feels cheerful and accessible. As the composition develops, marshmallow and lactone introduce a softer, creamier register, and the vanilla, sugar and musk base gives the whole scent a warm, rounded finish.
