Why it exists.
The beginning
Zamak is an alloy, a combination of zinc, aluminum, magnesium, and copper. Lalique built an entire collection around the chemistry of metals, translating the properties of five alloys into fragrance. The 2015 release arrived as part of Les Compositions Parfumées, a collection where the bottle itself echoes the concept with its blurred glass and black stopper. The scent opens with bright citrus and warm spice, shifting toward powdery florals before settling into a rich leathery drydown. There's a deliberate tension between cool and warm notes throughout the composition, though the fragrance never feels heavy or overwrought. The overall impression is polished and refined, with the leather and vanilla in the base providing lasting depth without overwhelming the earlier notes.
