The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Bubble Gum arrived in 2024 from Kinfolk Notes. The fragrance takes its inspiration from the uncomplicated brightness of popping a piece of gum on a walk through the city, when everything is light and nothing needs to be serious. There's a deliberate playfulness here, a scent that leans into something brighter and more immediate than what the brand typically offers. A 30ml eau de parfum, it is the kind of composition meant to be reached for on an ordinary day, not saved for one. The name itself sets the expectation, and the juice delivers on it with a sweetness that feels nostalgic without tipping into novelty. Bubble Gum reads as an exercise in restraint, where the brief was to capture a single, specific sensation rather than build a complex architecture.
What makes this composition interesting is how it balances two very different impulses. The top is bright pear and citrus doing the cheerful work, while the base grounds it with patchouli and amber that give the sweetness somewhere to land. The freesia and jasmine in the heart keep things from veering into candy territory. It's a bubblegum that grew up slightly. Still sweet, but with a floral backbone that makes it feel more composed than its name suggests.
The evolution
The opening is the loudest stretch, and that's by design. Pear and orange hit immediately, sweet and almost edible, the kind of first impression that makes people lean in. Bergamot and lemon sit underneath, keeping things from collapsing into pure sugar. As the citrus softens, the florals arrive. Freesia leads, airy and soapy-clean, then rose and jasmine add a soft warmth to the composition. There's a fruity sweetness that lingers through the heart, but it's now threaded through petals rather than standing alone, woven into the florals in a way that feels intentional. Eventually, the base settles in. Amber and musk create a skin-close warmth, while patchouli adds just enough earthiness to keep the whole thing from floating away. The drydown is intimate, a quiet sweetness that lingers close to the skin for hours before fading to a faint trace on fabric.
Cultural impact
Bubble Gum draws on a particular kind of nostalgia, the confectionery brightness of a piece of bubble gum unwrapped on an ordinary afternoon. The composition leans into bright citrus top notes, bergamot, lemon, and orange, before softening into a juicy pear heart, creating a sweetness that recalls candy without literally replicating it. The fragrance taps into a universal memory, one shared across generations, of that first chew and the burst of flavor that comes with it. By translating that sensation into a wearable format, the scent finds a connection with anyone who carries that association.
