The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Night In Andalus was conceived in 2021 when Ibrahim Fuhaid, the founder-perfumer of a Saudi Arabian house, set out to capture the hush that descends on Moorish palaces after nightfall. Influenced by historic descriptions of marble courtyards where jasmine vines climb stone arches and incense smolders in hidden alcoves, he chose oud as the resinous pillar and amber to echo the golden glow of candlelight. He introduced ambergris to recall the cool sea breezes that occasionally drift over the stone walls, while jasmine adds a fleeting floral memory of blossoms opening at dusk. Musk and tonka bean were selected to give the fragrance a skin-close warmth and a subtle sweetness that balances the deeper resins, and guaiac wood grounds the composition with a faint smoky wood note. The result is a limited-run scent that blends traditional Arabian ingredients with a contemporary, gender-neutral elegance.
In constructing Night In Andalus, the perfumer selected each ingredient for its ability to mirror an Andalusian night scene. Oud provides the foundational resinous echo of historic incense, while amber amplifies warmth and golden glow. Ambergris supplies a marine contrast that recalls cool breezes outside marble walls. Jasmine adds an ephemeral floral note that hints at blossoms opening after dusk. Musk enhances skin affinity, while tonka bean offers a soft sweetness to balance the deeper resins, and guaiac wood grounds the blend with subtle smoke. The result is a carefully balanced heart that works in layers, both evoking traditional Arabian perfumery and a modern, gender-neutral presentation.
The evolution
The fragrance begins with a sudden plunge into its heart, as if a courtyard gate swings open on a warm night, and the aromatic core of oud and amber instantly fills the space. Ambergris surfaces quickly, adding a fleeting salty breeze that mingles with jasmine petals, while musk holds the composition close to the skin, ensuring the scent remains Intimate and lasting. Tonka bean emerges as a gentle sweet contrast, but its presence stays subtle, never dominating the deeper resinous notes. Guaiac wood introduces a faint smoky woodiness that supports the amber and oud, preventing the blend from becoming static. As the hours advance, the salty marine nuance of ambergris fades, leaving the warm amber and oud musks to dominate the skin. The final stage reveals a lingering, powdery amber softened by faint smoky guaiac, a final whisper of the jasmine heart still felt beneath the surface, completing a nocturnal reverie that transitions smoothly from an opening burst to a graceful, enduring drydown.
Cultural impact
Since its 2023 debut, Night In Andalus has become a quiet favorite among collectors who seek a night‑time oud that feels both regal and Intimate. The triple‑oud structure sets it apart in the niche market, prompting discussions on forums about its balance of floral and animalic power. Its presence is often linked to sophisticated evening wear, echoing the house’s reputation for daring yet refined compositions.
