The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
In 2022, Henry Jacques created Maria Perello as a scented portrait of the tennis legend's wife, translating her poised elegance into fragrance. Steeped in the maison's tradition of private commissions and artisanal craftsmanship, perfumer Henry Jacques drew on orange blossom and violet to evoke a sun-kissed garden, capturing that effortless grace which requires no embellishment.
The note architecture reflects Henry Jacques' philosophy of restraint and refinement. Orange blossom and violet provide an opening that is luminous without being loud, while bergamot and jasmine create a heart that feels both natural and elevated. Sandalwood and white musk in the base serve not as spectacle but as gentle permanence, the kind of presence that endures because it never demanded attention in the first place.
The evolution
The journey begins with orange blossom and violet, their bright, petal-soft opening evoking morning light across a Provencal garden. Bergamot arrives as a clarifying element, lending citrus brightness to the heart where jasmine deepens the floral narrative with its characteristic richness. As time passes, sandalwood and white musk take hold, shifting the scent from garden-fresh to quietly Intimate, a creamy woody presence that lingers without announcement.
Cultural impact
Wearers describe Maria Perello as the scent of quiet confidence, often chosen for elegant gatherings where subtlety matters. It sits alongside the brand’s In All Intimacy line, reinforcing Henry Jacques’ reputation for Intimate, well-balanced extrait creations that appeal to both men and women seeking understated luxury.
