The beginning
Camo Blend Nude Canvas arrived in 2026 as part of H&M's collaboration with E.L.F., the beauty brand whose cult-fave complexion products inspired a limited collection of fragrances and accessories. Perfumer Marine Mercé shaped the concept: a creamy, woody composition that reads like a bare face made flawless, nothing hiding, nothing showing off. The idea was transparency in scent form. Vanilla, musk, and palo santo carry the brief, each note chosen for the way it melts rather than announces. Vanilla brings sweetness without sugar, palo santo adds smoke without ash, and musk does the closing work, turning everything soft and close. It launched alongside a music video and coordinating accessories, marking H&M's first collaboration of this kind with another beauty label. The transition into the heart is quiet but deliberate. Sandalwood and vanilla arrive together, the sandalwood lending its milky smoothness while the vanilla adds warmth without syrup. Cedarwood threads through both, keeping the sweetness from tipping into pastry territory. This is the longest phase, roughly the next three to four hours, and it smells like warm skin in cashmere. As the drydown takes over, around hour five or six, praline surfaces with a soft nutty sweetness while palo santo brings the smoke. Not campfire smoke, just the faint char of a candle that burned itself out. Musk pulls everything tight at the very end, leaving a second-skin warmth that clings to fabric and hair. On a sweater the next morning, the cedar and praline dominate, a woody sweetness with just enough edge to stay interesting.
