The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Emanuel Ungaro built his house on contrast. Bold structure, lyrical nuance. In 2019, the label turned that philosophy toward men. Emilie Bevierre-Coppermann built the composition around a tension that defines the house, vibrant citrus and warm spice, held in balance rather than resolved. The opening bursts with zesty bergamot and bright grapefruit, their citrus brightness cutting through the air. Nutmeg slides in to warm the edges, tempering the sweetness before it can settle. Spices linger in the drydown, their warmth threading through the composition rather than overwhelming it.
The heart is where this separates from typical masculine compositions. Palisander rosewood and orris root create a warmth that reads as powdery, almost elegant. Combined with cinnamon, it moves the fragrance away from the woods-and-spice template and toward something with more complexity. Tonka bean anchors the drydown with a sweetness that doesn't apologize for itself. The house philosophy holds: bold statements beside subtle accents, like the tailoring that made the label famous.
The evolution
The opening hits immediately, bergamot and grapefruit arrive together, bright and unapologetic. Nutmeg follows close behind, warming the edges before the citrus sweetness can settle. You feel the spice before you expect it. The heart takes over as the initial brightness softens. Cinnamon and palisander rosewood create a warm, slightly powdery character that shifts the energy from crisp to composed. The orris root adds an unexpected elegance, this is not a standard masculine drydown. The base announces itself with depth and presence. Tonka bean and musk create a warmth that stays close to the skin. Cedar grounds everything in something dry and woody. The final hours are quiet, intimate, and persistent. The sillage never becomes aggressive, it projects enough to be noticed, then retreats to something personal.
Cultural impact
This fragrance creates a composition that reads as confident without being aggressive. The warm spice and powdery base offer a distinctive character that stands apart from more conventional masculine scents. The interplay between bright citrus opening and soft powdery drydown gives it an unconventional elegance.
