Too often fig plays second fiddle to sweeter fruits, but here it pairs with black cherry in a way that feels almost fermented, dark, jammy, slightly boozy without being literal about it. Salted caramel doesn't just add sweetness. It adds the memory of salt on caramel, the slight bitter edge that keeps the composition from sliding into pure confection. Almond in the heart is almost medicinal at first, the faintest whiff of marzipan, before it warms into something edible and comforting.

The evolution

The opening hits fast: black cherry and fig together, dark and jammy, the sweetness immediate and unhedged. No softening, no hesitation. Within minutes, salted caramel appears, not dominant, but weaving itself through the fruit, adding a buttery richness that leans slightly savory. The transition into the heart is subtle. Around twenty minutes in, almond asserts itself, its toasted warmth pushing the cherry and fig further back. The caramel becomes denser, more confection. By the time amber and benzoin arrive in the drydown, the fruit has mostly retreated. What's left is warm resin, close to the skin, intimate in a way the opening never promised.
