Why it exists.
The beginning
DefineMe launched Nearly Nude in 2025, working with perfumers Dominique Bouley and Pierre Bouley to build a fragrance around a single, very specific sensation: skin that's clean, warm, and just stepped out of the bath. Just the smell of being fresh, and not trying to be anything else. The composition leans into softness without disappearing into it. Oat and oat milk give it a creamy, milky roundness that sits right on the surface of the skin, while linden blossom introduces a gentle, almost laundry-fresh florality. Iso E Super drifts through everything, lending a woody, transparent quality that reads more like atmosphere than ingredient. It's the kind of scent that feels less like a choice and more like a condition.
The unusual move here is what the formula leaves out. There's no loud florals fighting for attention, no sharp spices trying to announce the wearer across a room. Instead, oat and oat milk do the heavy lifting, with linden blossom offering a quiet floral lift and Iso E Super providing a smooth, skin-adjacent softness that makes the whole composition feel lived-in from the first spray. The base is where it locks in.
The evolution
The opening is immediate and intimate. Oat, skin accord, and a suggestion of bubble bath hit within the first minute, reading as warm and slightly sweet without ever tipping into gourmand territory. There's a clean-soap quality that feels nostalgic in a way that's hard to pin down. By the 30-minute mark, linden blossom and oat milk take over. The Iso E Super starts working its magic, adding a soft, woody transparency that makes everything feel hazy and close. The sweetness rounds off. What started as bath-adjacent becomes skin-adjacent. The drydown is where Nearly Nude earns its name. Ambroxan and benzoin settle into a warm, mineral musk that clings to fabric through the next day.
