The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Exquisite Leather arrived in 2024, crafted by perfumer Hamid Merati-Kashani. The brief was simple: leather that feels worn, not new. Beckham's wardrobe has always included quality leather goods, the kind that soften with use, that carry history in their creases. That idea became the fragrance. Bright top notes give way to a leather heart that doesn't demand attention. It earns it instead.
The bourbon leather accord at the heart makes the difference. Bourbon adds warmth, a slight sweetness that stops the leather from going harsh or medicinal. Juniper brings a green, aromatic lift that keeps the heart from feeling heavy. The orris root grounds everything with a powdery softness, the same note that gives violet its velvety quality. Cashmeran in the base creates the sensation of leather that's been worn in, not polished up. Not new leather. Worn leather. That contrast between the bright, fruity opening and the soft, intimate drydown is the whole point.
The evolution
The first hour does the work. Apple and raspberry open juicy and immediate, a tartness that catches attention before the leather arrives. By the thirty-minute mark, the heart takes over. The leather reads soft here, almost creamy, with juniper keeping it awake. Jasmine adds a floral whisper that tempers the masculinity. Then the drydown settles. Sandalwood and cashmeran create warmth without weight. Musk and moss keep it close to the skin. Six to eight hours later, what's left is a powdery, woody intimacy, the kind that lives in fabric and hair, not the air around you.
Cultural impact
Exquisite Leather draws comparisons to higher-end leather fragrances, particularly Tom Ford's Eau d'Ombre Leather, similar in spirit but with a sweeter, more restrained drydown. The 2024 release has built a following among those seeking niche-level quality at a moderate price point. Community reviews highlight the drydown and powdery leather character as standout qualities.
