The name pulls from a literary reference tied to a coming-of-age story about hunger and spectacle, and Nguyen built the scent around that tension: a birthday celebration built on ingredients that feel half-sweet, half-survival. Cornbread and stewed plums open the frame. Buttermilk and jam sit at the center, the kind of comfort food that carries weight when you know where it came from. Fresh laundry closes it out, a clean exhale after the sugar rush. It is gourmand storytelling with a backbone, the kind of confection that knows it is also a memory.
