Lavender carries through from opening to drydown, it never fully disappears, just softens into the powdery warmth of the base. What makes this interesting is the tension between the cool, aromatic top and the warm, sweet finish. Tobacco and vanilla don't fight each other. They take turns. The cedar and iris keep the middle from going flat, while cardamom and cinnamon provide just enough spice to make the drydown feel earned rather than inevitable. It's well-constructed casual, the kind of scent that smells like someone who cares about the details without announcing it.

The evolution

The opening hits within seconds. Lavender, bergamot, a spike of cardamom, clean and sharp, the kind of clarity that announces itself without trying. Artemisia adds an herbal backbeat that most designers would've left on the cutting room floor. About forty-five minutes in, the top notes begin their quiet retreat. Tobacco rises first, then cedar, cinnamon threading through with a warmth that feels like it belongs to a different phase of the day entirely. Iris adds a powdery softness to the transition, not powder in the talc sense, but in the way expensive men's products have always used the word. By hour two, the drydown has settled into its final form: vanilla and sandalwood close to skin, musk holding everything in place, the whole composition breathing at low volume. Moderate sillage means it stays with you rather than announcing you. Four to six hours is the realistic window, intimate enough for office proximity, present enough that the drydown rewards paying attention.
