Cologne Mood arrived in 2017 as part of Comptoir Sud Pacifique's Jardins Pop collection, a lineup that marked a different direction for the house. The name signals a cologne-style composition, a bright, green-leaning structure built around rhubarb, bergamot, and cardamom, with iris and patchouli holding the base together. Comptoir Sud Pacifique has long been associated with tropical and gourmand territory, and Cologne Mood still carries a trace of that warmer DNA beneath the fresher top. It reads as something the house does less often, but the cologne-style architecture gives it a distinctly morning feeling: crisp, green, a little bit sharp around the edges.
What makes Cologne Mood worth a second look is the rhubarb-cardamom-patchouli spine running through it. Rhubarb gives the top a tart, almost edible fruitiness that sets up the rest of the composition, and cardamom adds a warm, slightly piquant shimmer right at the heart.
