The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Thierry Bessard designed Jardin Nectarina for Ciclo Cosméticos' Jardin line, a collection built around the idea that floral fragrances don't need a special occasion to exist. The name carries the abundance of a summer garden at its peak, nectar-rich, sun-warmed, unapologetically lush. Bessard selected each note to translate that warmth into something wearable across real days: the brightness of Sicilian lemon, the soft depth of nectarine, the powdery lift of violet. This is the Jardin line doing what it does best, taking floral richness and making it part of an ordinary Tuesday.
What makes this structure interesting is the hand-off between the top and heart. Most floral fruity fragrances let the fruit notes dominate throughout. Here, the citrus and nectarine arrive bright and juicy, then yield gracefully to a heart of freesia and lily of the valley that shifts the composition from fruit-forward to powdery-floral. The base anchors everything in amber, musk, and vanilla, a warm foundation that keeps the florals from floating away. It's a fragrance built in three clear movements, each distinct, each deliberate.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and immediately. Nectarine and tangerine arrive together, citrus cutting through with a tartness that reads as clean more than sweet. The Sicilian lemon adds a sharpness that sharpens the edges. This phase lasts roughly 20 to 30 minutes before the florals begin to assert themselves. Freesia appears first, slightly green, slightly sweet, followed by lily of the valley bringing that characteristic powdery lift. Violet threads through, adding a quiet violet-powder element that softens the transition. By the second hour, the citrus has receded and the composition settles into its powdery floral heart. The amber and vanilla don't announce themselves loudly. They arrive gradually, warming the base from within, adding a skin-like quality that carries the next two to three hours. On most skin types, the drydown holds for four to six hours, the vanilla and musk creating a close, warm trail that stays intimate rather than projecting outward.
Cultural impact
Jardin Nectarina arrives at a turning point for Brazilian fragrance culture, where local consumers are increasingly seeking perfumes that reflect their own climate, ingredients, and style preferences rather than simply adopting European trends. Ciclo Cosméticos built the Jardin line around accessible florals that respond to Brazilian warmth, and Nectarina extends this by centering stone fruit notes that feel native to the region's abundance. The emphasis on nectarine, tangerine, and Sicilian citrus speaks to a broader movement in Brazilian perfumery toward bright, edible top notes that perform well in humidity.
