The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
DGAF. Don't Give A F***. The name says everything. It's not a fragrance, it's a position. The official copy calls it "SCENT OF LIBERTY & MADNESS. UNTAMED, UNLEASHED AND UNCENSORED." That's not marketing language. That's the brief. Borntostandout built a house around refusing to play it safe, and DGAF is the proof. Perfumer Alexandre Freile worked with a fragrance that refuses categorization, not masculine, not feminine, not occasion-specific. Just free.
What makes DGAF interesting is the tension in its own materials. The opening is clean, bergamot, sage, citrus, but it's clean with teeth. Sage gives it that herbal, slightly bitter edge that keeps the citrus from smelling like a hotel lobby. Violet adds a powdery softness that arrives unexpectedly. The middle is where it gets interesting: Bulgarian rose and frankincense create a heart that's simultaneously refined and uncompromising. It's not trying to please everyone. It's trying to be exactly what it is.
The evolution
The opening lasts about 20 minutes, bright, a little green, the sage making itself known before the bergamot settles. Then the hand-off: sandalwood and incense arrive together, warming the composition, pushing it toward resin rather than fresh. The Bulgarian rose shows up quietly, not loudly, it adds depth without sweetness. The drydown is where DGAF earns its name. Cashmere and tonka bean create that powdery warmth that clings, intimate and close. It stays for hours. Moderate sillage means it doesn't announce itself, it rewards anyone who leans in. On fabric, it lingers until the next wash. On skin, expect the full workday and into the evening.
Cultural impact
DGAF has developed a loyal following among wearers who want fragrance that refuses to be safe. Users consistently report exceptional longevity, the drydown lasting through a full workday and into the evening. The scent profile creates debate: fresh yet resinous, powdery yet warm, modern yet timeless. That tension is the point. The sillage sits in the moderate-to-strong range, noticeable without being overwhelming, strongest in cooler weather when the incense and warmth become more pronounced.
