The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Love Me arrived in 2003 from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, one of the earliest entries in the brand's growing catalog of narrative-driven perfume oils. The fragrance was part of the Conjure Bag collection, a line that leaned into themes of seduction, power, and ritual, and the official description calls it a commanding and dominating love potion that increases sexual magnetism, irresistible attraction, and power, and that framing shapes everything the composition does. The name itself is a provocation, a dare, a single line of seduction delivered without preamble, and the scent follows through on that promise with a composition that feels both lush and deliberate. On skin, the rose is the first thing that registers, but it's not a clean or innocent rose.
What makes Love Me worth noticing is how the warm-spicy and white-floral accords share the same space without canceling each other out. Most compositions that lead with jasmine either go clean and dewy or plunge straight into indolic territory, but here the incense and cinnamon do something interesting: they weigh the florals down, give them a smoky undertone, and stop the sweetness from drifting off into something innocent. The African orange flower adds that honeyed, almost animalic edge, while the vanille and sugar base keeps everything grounded. It reads as a fragrance that knows exactly what it's doing.
The evolution
The first few minutes are the softest this fragrance will ever be. Jasmine and orange flower arrive together, bright and slightly indolic, like sun-warmed petals pressed against skin. The sugar and vanilla start pulling at the edges almost immediately, sweetening the florals without flattening them. Then the cinnamon arrives, and the temperature shifts. The heart phase is where Love Me finds its voice: incense smoke curls through the white florals, the woody notes darken the sweetness, and the whole thing becomes heavier, warmer, more deliberate. As it dries down, the florals recede but never fully leave. The cinnamon and incense hold the center, the vanilla deepens into something almost resinous, and the woody base settles into skin like a confession. On fabric, especially wool or cotton, the drydown can last through the next day, still faintly sweet and smoky, like a trace someone left behind on purpose.
Cultural impact
Love Me sits within BPAL's Conjure Bag collection, a line built around themes of seduction, power, and arcane charm. Among the brand's catalog of 207 perfumes, it stands out as one of the more directly themed compositions, a fragrance that wears its intentions on its sleeve rather than hiding behind abstraction. The official positioning, a commanding and dominating love potion that increases sexual magnetism, gives it a narrative anchor that most indie oils either avoid or overplay. The community reception skews divided, with some wearers finding the floral-smoke balance compelling and others finding the sweetness too present.
