The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Majestic Cedar launched in 2014 as a unisex fragrance from Bella Bellissima, an independent perfume house. Its name points directly to the composition's central material, cedar, but the fragrance is less about a single tree than the atmosphere around one: bark, forest floor, resin, and filtered smoke. The composition takes a classical approach to structure, while the woody, earthy, mossy, aromatic, amber, smoky, and oriental accords give the scent a darker, more grounded character. Nothing about the note list is ornamental. Cedar, oakmoss, vetiver, incense, sandalwood, patchouli, and frankincense work together like a study in wood and earth after rain, each ingredient lending weight and texture rather than chasing brightness.
The interesting part is how cedar behaves here. It does not sit alone as a polished shaving scent. Oakmoss darkens it with damp bark, vetiver adds a dry herbal edge, and incense brings a veil of resinous smoke. Sandalwood gives the center a rounded grain, while patchouli deepens the base with earthy weight. Frankincense adds a cool, burning lift. The result is less like fresh timber and more like a forest floor after the first drops of rain, where green, resin, and soil are all present at once.
The evolution
Majestic Cedar begins with cedar's clean woody snap, then moves into moss and vetiver for a drier, greener center. Incense and frankincense lend the composition a faint smoke, not an aggressive blast, while sandalwood rounds the middle and keeps the dry wood from feeling brittle. Patchouli arrives in the drydown, making the scent darker and more tactile. As the brighter opening softens, the fragrance settles into a close, woody presence, gently smoky and earthy, settling close to the skin rather than projecting broadly. In its final hours, Majestic Cedar leaves an impression of warm bark, faint resin, and forest floor rather than a single dominant note.
Cultural impact
Majestic Cedar sits within Bella Bellissima's wider vocabulary of woody and oriental fragrances, where the focus stays on material and mood. The composition leans on a palette of cedar, oakmoss, vetiver, incense, sandalwood, patchouli, and frankincense, ingredients long associated with contemplative, grounded fragrance. Its unisex launch in 2014 placed it within a broader conversation about woody compositions that resist the bright, citrus-led direction of much mainstream perfumery.
