Why it exists.
The beginning
Fig Tea arrived in 2022 from Atelier Faye. The name does the work up front: fig, that tealeaf bitterness, the ritual of steeping something green and waiting. There's an immediacy to the concept, a kind of translation from one sensory language into another, where the vegetal snap of steeped leaves becomes a wearable thing. Fig Tea wears like an aromatic green with a softness baked into its bones, the kind of composition that rewards close attention rather than loud projection. It reads as a study in contrast: bitter fig leaf against ripe fig fruit, sharp herbal against creamy sweetness, the cool greenness of tea against the warmth of something almost edible. There's nothing forced about the balance.
The composition rests on a marshmallow-vetiver pairing that gives the fragrance its unusual center of gravity. Bay leaf opens with herbal snap, green and slightly peppery, before fig's jammy sweetness arrives to soften the entry. Marshmallow enters next, and it reads less as confection than as texture, something airy and creamy that smooths the edges without adding overt sugar. Vetiver does the work of pulling the cream back toward earth, its dry, smoky rootiness anchoring the sweetness so the whole composition stays grounded.
The evolution
