The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Scent Of Kiss arrived in 2019 from Olivier Pescheux, built around a single idea: capture the impression someone leaves behind. Not the grand entrance, the quiet moment after. The name says it all. The brief was the title. It is a subtle confidence, not a statement.
What makes this composition work is the restraint. Fruity-floral-gourmand is a crowded lane, but Pescheux keeps the sweetness from tipping into confection. The strawberry stays bright, the florals stay soft, and the vanilla base anchors everything without overwhelming. It's pleasant without being forgettable, a balance many fragrances in this category fail to strike.
The evolution
The opening is immediate: strawberry and grapefruit burst forward, tart and sweet at once. The pear and apple add body without sharpening anything. Within minutes, the florals arrive, jasmine, orange blossom, peach blossom, wrapping around the strawberry like a soft embrace. The rose doesn't dominate; it deepens the feeling. As the heart settles, vanilla emerges, warmed by cedarwood and grounded with patchouli. The drydown is intimate and close, lingering for 4-6 hours without ever truly announcing itself. Someone will notice. Just not right away.
Cultural impact
Scent Of Kiss fits neatly into the Armand Basi tradition of accessible, everyday elegance. It doesn't compete for attention, it accompanies. The sweet-fruity character with a warm vanilla base appeals to those who want something pleasant without being performative. It reflects a broader shift toward intimate, personal fragrances that work with the wearer rather than around them.
