The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Strawberries Crave Summer arrived in 2015 as part of Arcana Craves, the indie label that grew out of Arcana Wildcraft's workshop. The brand built its whole identity on a simple formula: something familiar placed alongside something it desires. Strawberries, craving summer. The naming convention reads like a spell written in a kitchen at dusk, and this particular composition leans into the sensual side of that promise. It takes the bright, almost tart sweetness of ripe strawberries and asks them to want heat, bloom, and the languid hush of a long afternoon. What came out is a fragrance that feels less like a perfume and more like a memory of a specific July afternoon spent somewhere beautiful with the windows down.
What makes this composition worth attention is the friction between its gourmand and floral sides. Strawberry sorbet and pistachio ice cream read as dessert, but the heart and base are loaded with star jasmine, neroli, tiaré, and tuberose, white florals that carry weight and creaminess of their own. The result is a scent that smells edible and floral at the same time, the kind of pairing that confuses your brain in the best way. Most strawberry fragrances lean either candy-sweet or green-leafy, and this one goes somewhere else entirely.
The evolution
The opening belongs to neroli and strawberry sorbet, bright and almost cold, like biting into a chilled fruit while the sun hits your neck. Then the star jasmine and tuberose arrive together, and the whole thing warms up. The white florals don't smell powdery here. They smell creamy, almost lactonic, melting into the pistachio ice cream accord like two scoops sitting next to each other on a warm plate. The drydown is where the strawberry comes back, but different now. Less cold fruit, more jam, the way berries taste after they've been cooked down with a little sugar. As the hours pass, the composition settles into something softer and more skin-like, the white florals retreating just enough to let the pistachio sweetness take center stage. What's left at the end of the day is a soft trace of neroli and that lingering pistachio note, like the ghost of a dessert you finished hours ago.
Cultural impact
This fragrance lives in the cult corner of indie perfumery, the kind of bottle that quietly accumulates a loyal audience among people who want their perfume to taste like a season. Strawberries Crave Summer has the devoted following typical of the Craves line, small but intensely committed, valued for its willingness to be both floral and edible without picking a side. The composition earns its reputation by refusing to settle, layering tropical and white floral notes under a sugary fruit shell so that every wearing reveals something slightly new.
