The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Blue berries Crave Surf arrived in 2018 as part of Arcana Craves habit of turning simple cravings into scent stories. The title pairs the familiar burst of blue berries with the idea of a surf-side escape, echoing the brands verb-sandwich naming formula. Crafted in the house modest workshop, the scent was built around the concept of craving two seemingly opposite sensations simultaneously. The coconut and sand form the structural beach reference, while blueberry and orange blossom inject the sweetness and floral nuance that keep the composition from feeling purely atmospheric.
The notes function as interlocking parts of a beach narrative. Blueberry and orange blossom provide the sweetness and floral nuance at the heart, while coconut and sand create the atmospheric beach setting. The skin and musk elements represent the personal, Intimate warmth of sun-kissed skin. Tog ether, they form a scent that reads as playful nostalgia rather than literal interpretation, capturing the feeling of a beach moment rather than its exact details.
The evolution
The scent opens with coconut and skin warmth, immediately establishing the beach context. As the fragrance develops, blueberry arrives with orange blossom, bringing a sweet-tart fruitiness and a delicate floral note that deepens the sweetness without overwhelming it. The coconut continues to evolve through the heart, adding a creamy, almost tropical richness that complements the blueberry. Sand persists throughout, keeping the composition grounded in its coastal premise. In the drydown, the blueberry fades while the coconut and skin-musk remain, settling into a warm, Intimate finish that feels like sun-warmed skin on sand. The progression traces a narrative from initial beach arrival through a vibrant fruit-floral peak and into a quiet, close-wearing conclusion.
Cultural impact
Blue berries have long been celebrated in coastal cultures, symbolizing both the bounty of the sea and the sweetness of summer harvests. In many seaside towns, the fruit appears in festivals, folk songs, and traditional desserts, linking the scent of the ocean with the familiar aroma of ripe berries. This connection has inspired perfumers to capture that nostalgic feeling, blending marine notes with the tartness of blueberry and blackberry. The inclusion of orange blossom adds a hint of sunrise, while coconut evokes tropical breezes, creating a fragrance that feels both rooted in heritage and fresh for modern wearers.
