The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Vanilla Craves Spring arrived in 2016 as part of Arcana Craves, the playful sub-line of Arcana Wildcraft. The concept was disarmingly simple: what does vanilla long for when it's not huddled in a winter blanket? The answer turned out to be everything green, sweet, and slightly mischievous at once. Spring arrived and so did a scent that asked vanilla to step outside its comfort zone, trading warmth for bright air and chewing-gum afternoons. The green notes announce themselves immediately, galbanum offering that bitter, resinous snap of a freshly snapped stem, while mint adds a cool undercurrent that brightens the composition without overwhelming it.
What makes this composition worth attention is the tension it sets up between registers that don't usually share a bottle. Vanilla Absolute and White Amber bring depth, warmth, and the kind of creamy sweetness people expect from a gourmand. Galbanum and Mint push back with sharp green heat. Honeysuckle adds a thin floral thread. Bubblegum is the curveball, the confectionery note that catches you off guard and refuses to behave. That friction between the candy and the cut grass is where the fragrance earns its name.
The evolution
The first few minutes are almost too busy. Mint and galbanum crack open cold and bright, like pulling a leaf apart between your fingers, while a sugary pink bubblegum sweetness hums underneath. As the green notes begin to settle, honeysuckle takes over, adding a warm floral lift that softens the bubblegum without erasing it. The White Amber thickens into a golden resin glow, and the Vanilla Absolute starts to feel less like flavoring and more like skin warmth. What remains is a creamy vanilla-amber close that wears close to the body. The drydown feels like the season turning, the green sharpness fading into a softer, warmer memory of itself. The bubblegum rounds off into something less sugary and more pillowy, almost like marshmallow, as the vanilla and amber take their final bow. On skin, the fragrance settles into a quiet sweetness that stays present without ever feeling loud.
Cultural impact
It's a scent for people who already know what they like and want something that says so without raising its voice. The candy-meets-garden tension is the conversation piece, the kind of unexpected pairing that makes someone lean in and ask what you're wearing. Vanillas are usually expected to be soft, sweet, and uncomplicated; this one is none of those things, and that contrast is exactly what draws attention. Galbanum and mint keep the vanilla from ever feeling too cozy, while the bubblegum adds a layer of playfulness that keeps the composition feeling current.
