The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Pink Princess arrived in 2024 as part of Ajmal's Whiffs of Wonder collection, a line built around light, youthful compositions that don't take themselves too seriously. The brief was simple: something sweet, floral, and easy to reach for, the kind of scent that feels like a first impulse rather than a studied choice. The composition leans on a small, deliberate cast of materials. Red berries and rose open the door. Peony takes the middle. Cedarwood, vanilla, and musk handle the landing. Six notes, no excess, no orchestral posturing. Just a clean arc from fruit to flower to warm skin.
What makes the structure interesting is the restraint. The red berries carry their own brightness without leaning on sweetness, and the rose holds its shape rather than dissolving into something thicker. There's a clarity here that lets each note register on its own terms. The cedarwood grounds the composition with a dry, woody backbone, and the vanilla underneath is soft rather than sticky, the kind of base that supports without smothering. White musk sweeps through and pulls everything into a clean, slightly powdery close.
The evolution
On skin, Pink Princess moves quickly through its first act. The red berries and rose hit within the first 15 minutes, bright and almost fizzy, the tartness sitting closer to pomegranate or cranberry than to strawberry jam. The sour edge is the first thing most people notice, and it's the first thing that fades. By the 30-minute mark, peony has taken over. This is the softest phase, a cool, almost watery floral that smooths the berry's sharpness. The rose doesn't disappear here, it leans into the peony and they read as a single cool-pink wash. There's no spice, no green stem, no complexity pretending to be complexity. Just clean floral. The drydown starts settling around the 2-hour mark. Cedarwood arrives first, subtle and structural, then vanilla warms the base from underneath.
Cultural impact
Pink Princess holds its own place within Ajmal's wider catalogue. The house is widely recognized for its oud compositions and traditional Arabian perfumery heritage, and a release like Pink Princess, with its red berries, rose, and peony profile, brings a different energy to the lineup. The Whiffs of Wonder collection, which includes fragrances like Hannah Banana, Sea Cruiser, and Little Prince, gathers these lighter creations together. Each one takes the brand in a direction that steps away from oud depth and into more accessible territory.
