The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Ainash Parfums, the Miami-based house founded in 2022, built Lune d'Or around the idea of capturing moonlight as it touches a tropical garden at night. The perfumer wanted to translate that transformation, ordinary jasmine and palms becoming something silver and extraordinary under a full moon. Using frankincense as a quiet anchor, the team shaped the opening to feel luminous rather than heavy, keeping the composition grounded in accessible warmth while aiming for something genuinely atmospheric. The house's narrative style places personal feeling into the bottle, and Lune d'Or reflects that by feeling like a memory more than a statement.
Lune d'Or uses frankincense and sandalwood to keep the coconut milk from feeling flat, adding resinous depth that elevates the tropical notes. The rose was chosen to counterbalance the sweetness of sugar and vanilla in the base, ensuring the drydown maintains some elegance rather than pure dessert warmth. Pairing the clean green of pistachio with the creamy coconut heart creates a contrast that makes the fragrance feel multi-layered without being complicated, and the overall philosophy prioritizes smoothness and wearability above spectacle.
The evolution
The fragrance moves from the crisp brightness of its opening into a full-bodied creamy heart and settles into something warm and lasting. Pistachio and pear give an immediate freshness that frankincense steadies, preventing the start from feeling too sweet. As coconut and milk emerge, the texture thickens into something plush, and rose gently softens the lactonic quality without adding sharpness. By the time amber, sandalwood, and vanilla arrive, the fragrance has completed its arc from bright to cozy, with sugar and musk ensuring it stays close to the skin for hours after application.
Cultural impact
Lune d'Or draws inspiration from ancient moon‑lit rituals in the Middle East, where frank incense was burned to cleanse spaces and invite contemplation. The pear element reflects the historic trade routes that brought sweet fruits to desert markets, symbolising exchange and hospitality. Pistachio, a staple in regional cuisine, adds a nutty richness that echoes communal feasts. By blending these notes, the perfume evokes a sense of timeless gathering, where scent acted as a bridge between the sacred and the social. Modern wearers experience this heritage as a quiet reminder of shared histories, making the fragrance not just a personal adornment but a cultural echo that resonates across generations.
